Are you ready for the biggest line-up of comedy to ever hit Canberra?
The 2017 Canberra Comedy Festival is celebrating its fifth year with a huge line-up of national and international comedians coming to town.
The six-day festival runs from the 20 – 26 March 2017 and will feature over 60 shows across Canberra guaranteeing to give everyone the giggles.
“In our fifth year, we not only have a huge line-up of well-known comedians but we are also presenting our most diverse program to date, featuring everything from stand up to music to clean comedy to absurdism,” the comedy festival director Benjamin Stevenson said.
This year’s comedy festival is bigger than ever before, expanding its branches and moving into The Street Theatre to create yet another hub of comedy in the heart of Canberra.
The festival kicks off on the 20 March with the annual Opening Night Gala and the Opening Night Gala Encore, both of which have sold out.
But be sure to check out the rest of this year’s program as it is jam-packed with an explosive line-up of comedians: from debut Australian superstars, to award winning international acts from Ireland, the UK, Scotland, and New Zealand.
Some of the highlights include; Dave Hughes, arguably one of the biggest and funniest names in Australian comedy, and international stars such as Jimeoin, Paul Foot, and Stephen K Amos.
Like always, a few of the most promising comedians have been hand-picked from all over Australia, and even some of our very own stars from Canberra will be greeting us with their hilarious presence including; Chris Endrey, Jez Margosis, and James McMahon to name a few.
The diversity of this year’s program is one of the main attractions with shows ranging from Stand-up to Sketch to Song and to the truly weird and wonderful.
The festival will once again host the A.C.T final of Raw Comedy. Presented with The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Raw Comedy is the largest and longest running open mic comedy competition in Australia, ensuring a whole lot of belly laughter in the crowd.
So, what are you going to see at this year’s comedy festival?
Remember, you don’t have to pick just one, the festival spans across the week allowing you to see some of your good old favourites and to try something new.
