The ACT sports scene is kicking goals as 70 local sporting organisations received ACT Government grant funding.

This Sports and Recreation Grants Program will boost participation in sport, provide training and education opportunities and improve club facilities across Canberra.

The Women Sport and Recreation Participation and Leadership Program was included in this 2019 grants round for the second year. The program provides financial assistance to support participation, education and training activities for women and girls involved in sport across the ACT.

Under this program in 2019, nine successful applicants received funding including Canberra Ultimate receiving $10,000 to deliver an ultimate frisbee program for girls aged 12 – 17 years and Canberra Underwater Rugby was awarded $3,100 to purchase female friendly equipment and assist with developing a women only beginner program.

Canberra is a highly active city, with a wide range of quality, diverse and safe physical activity experiences on offer. For a full list of grant recipient’s visit www.sport.act.gov.au/grants.
