Are you looking to make your workplace more sustainable? Actsmart’s annual Sustainability Expo might be your chance. Canberra’s one-stop-shop for all things green is back for 2017 and this year’s program promises an action-packed line-up.
Attendees can expect to be entertained by a range of activities including FASHFEST’s exhibition of recycled outfits, an OzHarvest ‘Celebrity Chef Cook-Off’ featuring some of the best chefs in Canberra and the auction of a custom-made, timber-pallet table from boyandgirlco.
The ‘Champion of Champions’ lunch will also see this year’s Actsmart Business Award winners share their sustainability stories in a bid to win the prestigious title.
A range of interactive workshops will focus on savvy solar battery storage and sustainability in schools and Embassies, while attendees will also be able to view all the latest products in waste, water and energy management.
Some of Canberra’s leading female businesswomen will hold a series of seminars, including TEDxCanberra’s Event Manager, Ingrid Tomanovitz and IKEA Canberra’s Store Manager, Charmaine Hicks, who will talk about their business sustainability goals and achievements.
Canberra Business Woman of the Year, Karen Porter, will also host a seminar sharing her experience running a sustainable business and her endeavours in trying to improve the energy-efficiency of Canberra homes.
Karen’s business, Solace Creations, is a Canberra owned and operated retailer of double glazed windows and doors.
As one of the best retailers in the capital, they have installed their products in over a thousand Canberra homes, helping many home owners reduce the cost of their energy bill and cut down their carbon footprint.
The 2017 Actsmart Business Sustainability Expo will be held on Thursday 7 September from 10am to 5pm at the Southern Cross Club in Woden.
